My pictures are the one's that we learnt today.
Don't forget to play at manga high! That's where you can practice percents.
I hope you like it!

Aicelle's Pay it Forward

Part 1
What is "Pay it Forward". To complete this part please edit and revise the paragraphs that you wrote after watching the movie. Pay it Forward is an action that 1 person can do to 3 people and then they can past it to 3 other people, then the numbers gets bigger.
Part 2
What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness? Our act of kindness was made bake sale and donated the money to Siloam Mission.
Why did you choose this activity? We chose this activity because it was a unique way to make money and it takes a lot of effort and time.
Who did you help?
We helped the homeless people that Siloam Mission helps.
What did you do?
We did a bake sale and we sold it to our relatives.
When did you do you act of kindness?
On November 10th, 2011.

Part 3
How did your act of kindness go? It was good because we know that we helped at least 1 or 2 people.
What Happened?
When we went Siloam Mission there was a girl that came up to us and greeted us, another girl took a picture. They weren't surprised that we're from Sargent Park because a lot of Sargent Park students donate stuff there.
How did you feel?
It felt great because knowing that we're helping other people.
How did the person or people react?
The girl was smiling at us because she said that even though we're this young, she couldn't believe that we would raise money.
Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?
Yes.
How did they react to your request?
She just smiled at us.

Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it forward" important? It is important because when one person helps another it gets bigger and the world will change. Not much people will be hungry and will be homeless.
Has your act of kindness made a difference? Yes it made a difference because by raising at least $60 can make people happy by just giving them food and shelter.

This was the girl that we talked to and she said that she was very surprised and happy that people our age do this kind of stuff.

Aicelle's Graphing Post

There are 5 different graphs that can be represented.
Graphs: Bar Graphs, Line Graphs, Double Bar Graphs, Circle Graphs, and Pictographs.

Bar Graphs

Advantage - Good for comparing across categories.
Disadvantage - You can only use it with several data.

Line Graphs

Advantage - Good for showing changes over time.
Disadvantage - You can only use it when it changes over time.

Double Bar Graphs

Advantage - Good for comparing 2 sets of data across categories.
Disadvantage - You might get mixed up.

Circle Graphs

Advantage - Good for comparing to the whole using percents.
Disadvantage - You will not know the exact number and it also takes long to do.

Pictographs

Advantage - Good for comparing data that can be counted easily.
Disadvantage - You will not know if it is a half or not.

3 ways you can misrepresent a graph.

Break in the y-axis.

Make one picture bigger than the other.

Colour one bar different from the others.

The 2 graphs that will show it more accurately are line graphs and a bar graph.

If I was selling Pizza Subs I will continue because a lot of people are buying every week.

I would choose a Line Graph because it shows that every month, a lot more people are choosing healthy food.

Aicelle's Proportion Post

What is ratio?

A ratio shows the relationship between 2 quantities.
Ex. 13:43

What is rate?

A rate compares two quantities measured in different units.
Ex. 40m/h or $0.70/100g

What is proportion?

A proportion shows an equation which state that 2 ratios or fractions are equal.
Ex. 4/8=48/96

4x12=48 8x12=96

1.) 5 hours to travel 360 miles is about
72mph

2.) As a playgroup worker, if I increase the amount of apple juice I am serving at the playgroup from 25 ml to 100 ml, how much should I increase the orange juice to, to keep the quantities in the same proportion? The orange juice is 50 ml to start with. 200 ml
25/100 = 50/x
25x4=100 50x4=200

What are the three ways you can prove that equivalent ratio statements are true?

3/4 = 12/16
TRUE

4/9 = 16/32 FALSE

  1. Does this seem fair? No.
  2. With what you know about proportion look and read what is in the image above. Does it seem just and fair? Why have you made this choice? No, it does not seem fair because the homeless person had 15 years in prison for stealing $100 to have a place to sleep in, but surrendered the next day because he felt guilty. While the CEO of the Ex-Mortgage took away $3 billion and only went to prison for 3 years.
  3. What would you have done if you were the judge? I would have given him a year or 10 months in prison because he surrendered voluntarily also he only took $100. The CEO, I would've given him 30 years in prison because he took away the $3 billion from the company.
